Just one hour drive north
of Brisbane in the middle of the beautiful Sunshine Coast of Queensland
is one of Australia's favourite beach holiday destinations. Mooloolaba
Beach offers a delightful mix of modern beachfront eateries, exciting
entertainment venues and a great range of retail outlets all overlooking
a pristine white sandy beach and stunning bay. The town offers a
huge range of accommodation options, mostly overlooking the water
and ranging from luxurious resorts and family apartments to motel
and backpacker options.
Those who wish to wine and dine and party the night away are well
catered for, though at the same time, visitors to Mooloolaba can
simply choose to relax on the beach or around the pool. Mooloolaba
boasts nearly 100 eateries, many al fresco, overlooking the beach.
The sheltered Mooloolaba Harbour offers a wide range of water activities,
from fishing trips to parasailing, scuba diving on the recently
scuttled ex-HMAS Brisbane war ship, or a leisurely canal harbour
cruise.
The Mooloolaba Wharf complex is home to the Sunshine Coast's most
famous attraction, UnderWater World - a fascinating tropical oceanarium,
featuring huge sharks, and a dazzling array of other subterranean
species. A world class seal show is performed daily. Attractions
within a short drive of Mooloolaba include The Big Kart Track, Aussie
World and the Ettamogah Pub, Australia Zoo (home of Steve Irwin,
the Crocodile Hunter), The Big Pineapple, and The Ginger Factory.
The cosmopolitan feel of Mooloolaba is proving very popular with
a wide range of both interstate and international visitors. Located
in the middle of the Sunshine Coast and the heart of the Maroochy
Shire, Mooloolaba is the ideal base for visitors looking to explore
Sunshine Coast hinterland towns of Montville, Maleny, Flaxton, Mapleton,
Eumundi and Yandina.
